What does sustainability mean to you? Advice for living our responsibilities is a series of inspiring short videos produced by Katsi’tsakwas Ellen Gabriel for the Coalition for the Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The videos feature Indigenous experts answering questions and telling stories to explain their understandings of sustainability. The speakers also convey in their own ways that what sustainability means to them is linked to Indigenous practices and to human rights.
Each video is just a few minutes long but will introduce you to some fascinating concepts and efforts being undertaken by Indigenous peoples around sustainability and self-determination.
The videos are part of a year-long project examining the intersections between the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
This project is the product of a partnership between The Coalition for the Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the University of British Columbia.
